Question 3

NHS South Yorkshire ICB (SYICB) is currently working with wider partners in response to the 10 Year Plan to build on existing local integrated working to create neighbourhood health systems, teams and processes shaped by local needs.

These models are in active development, and we would anticipate that they would include advice and holistic interventions around supporting patients to have a healthy lifestyle e.g., via behavior change, social prescribing, care navigation and onward referral. Currently there are no SYICB commissioned weight management services delivered or planned in the neighbourhood structures.

SYICB has strong partnership links and working with the Yorkshire and
Humber Health Innovation Network.  However, does not currently have any
active programs relating to weight management services.

Question 4

The total funding for the three South Yorkshire specialist weight
management services in 24/25 was £594,033. These delivered via
• 2 x block contracts
• 1 x commissioned service

Patients have also been referred to a national right to choose contract and
paid on a tariff per patient seen basis.

Two bariatric surgery providers are commissioned and funded through
block contracts.

A primary care local enhanced service is expected to commence in early
2026, funded on a fee per patient basis.

As noted in the responses above planning on neighbourhood models is still
underway, with further guidance from DHSC, LGA and NHSE expected in
year 2025/26.

SYICB is conducting a review of weight management services in South
Yorkshire which will consider all models of potential future delivery.
