The ICB funds a weight management service in City & Hackney. Bariatric services are otherwise provided by Homerton Hospital under its block contract.
A small Tier 3
service, which is not formally commissioned, operates within Barts Health under its block contract. Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT) also provide some weight management support under its block contract.
In addition, the ICB has commissioned Barts Health and Homerton Hospital Trust to provide Tirzepatide under the national funding provision on behalf of primary care. A business case has also been approved to fund a Tier 3 Phase 1 service at both Barts Health and Homerton Hospital.
Weight management falls under the remit of the NEL Strategic Commissioning Team, although some activity may also take place within Neighbourhood Health Models.
