Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly

Question 1

Yes. We have a pathway for adults, children, and specifically for weight loss medication.

Question 2

We do not hold data on referrals by inequalities for this service.

Question 3

Primary care in our area is delivering weight loss prescriptions in line with the funding variation for cohort one for NICE TA1026.  Some of our GP practices are providing this service as a Primary Care Network.  We are in the process of clarifying which individual practices are providing this service, and which are delivering as a primary care network. We intend for this exercise to be complete by 9 January 2026.

We worked with the Southwest Health Innovation Network on our cluster application for the obesity pathway innovation programme funding application for Devon and Cornwall. As part of this bid application, we also had conversations with Professor Rohit Shankar, director of Cornwall Intellectual
Disability Research unit.

Question 4

The ICB does not hold a specific budget for adult weight management services.  Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust are commissioned to provide tier 3 and tier 4 weight management services, with primary care providing weight management services in line with the funding variation for NICE TA1026.

No decisions have yet been made about the changes to weight management services and or how they will be delivered.
